100 Words and Nine Thousand Miles

This will be several short posts, each exactly 100 words, telling another part of the story. They may not be in order when I post them, but later they will be.

“For you,” he said simply and with a snap of his fingers the world around was on fire, burning all that I knew. With a smirk, he said, “For you, my love, and your love of fire.”

There were screams of horror and the bitter crackle of flames all around. The hiss of water and fire meeting filled the air, but the magic flames could not be quenched so easily.

No remorse or regret, only an honestly realization. The simple answer came with an extended hand and simple, “No more. I will follow you if that is what you demand.”

A stranger in name only, the eyes that looked at me were a familiar hell. The smile that showed from beneath the cloak was a haunting leer I knew all too well.

Brushing off the feeling as paranoia, I approached the devil in question and asked what he would have.

My fears were confirmed in the form of a hand around my wrist and a whispered, “You” followed by a kill.

Panicked and cornered, I struck and fled, leaving him bleeding, hoping they’d find him dead. I had been his before, love only in name, slave in every single way.
